The passing of Mrs. Rosa (nee Rieland) Pulvermacher of St. Mary鈥檚 Villa, Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, on Sunday, January 25, 2015. She was 91 years of age, and the last surviving child of the Rieland family. Rosa was born to Henry and Elizabeth (nee Pitzel) Rieland in the Pilger district and attended St. Bernard鈥檚 School and Colorado School north of Pilger. Rosa married Norbert Pulvermacher on November 8, 1943 in St. Bernard鈥檚 Church and they made their home on the farm northwest of Middle Lake. In 1952, they moved to Pilger and later on they moved to Humboldt. Norbert passed away on May 4, 1998 but Rosa continued to live in the house until April 20, 2001 when she then moved to Sunset Manor. Rosa moved to Evergreen Country Home in LeRoy on September 24, 2009 and on March 14, 2010 moved to Enriched Housing in St. Mary鈥檚 Villa in Humboldt. On February 23, 2012 a move was made to Birch Manor in Middle Lake and then a final move back to St. Mary鈥檚 Wing at St. Mary鈥檚 Villa for more care on March 3, 2014. Rosa loved to sew. She took her wedding dress veil apart and made Marian and Pauline鈥檚 First Communion dresses and veils; she also sewed for her family and herself. Rosa loved gardening and flowers and she spent a lot of time in the strawberry and raspberry patches, as well as she did all her own canning and baking. As a young girl, her mother taught her how to knit which she did for her family, for children of Humboldt at Christmas, Good Neighbor Store, and for bingo gifts at Pilger Church. In her spare time, she loved playing cards. Rosa will be lovingly remembered by her four DAUGHTERS, two SONS, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren: MARIAN (George) Zimmerman and family, Laurie (Lloyd) Scott and children, Melissa Scott (Ryan) and Steven (Caitlin) Scott and family Jillian and Jillas, Colleen Walters and sons, Matthew, Sean and Bradley, Darren (Bernadette) Zimmerman, and Todd (Nicole) Zimmerman and children Thomas and Anna; PAULINE (Gerhard) Freriks and family, Theresa Campbell and sons Curtis and Jack, and Carol (Darryl) Cote and sons Kenneth and Brice; MARCELLUS (Eileen) Pulvermacher; MELVIN (Mary) Pulvermacher and family Tammy (John) Dekeher and son Kayden, Cindy (Drew) Turners and daughters Anje and Kjerstin, Holly Pulvermacher; VIRGINIA (Albert) Froess and family Nicole and Patricia; ESTHER (Jerry) Kienlen and family Amanda and David. She was predeceased by her husband, Norbert Pulvermacher; four grandchildren: Jerry Jr. Kienlen, Michael Pulvermacher, Robert Pulvermacher and KerryLynn Pulvermacher; one great-grandchild, Ashton Cote; her parents Henry and Elizabeth (nee Pitzel) Rieland; and by all her siblings. The Funeral Mass was held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Paul Paproski, OSB. Others taking part were: Marian Zimmerman, crossbearer; Laurie Scott, intentions; Laurie Scott and Theresa Campbell, scripture readers; Curtis and Jack Campbell and Melissa Scott, giftbearers. Music ministry was provided by director Loretta Schugmann, organist Marie Aubin, and the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. Pallbearers were Darren Zimmerman, Todd Zimmerman, George Zimmerman, Gerhard Freriks, Carol Freriks and Kenny Cote. Interment followed at St. Bernard鈥檚 Roman Catholic Cemetery, Pilger District.
