Regina Josepha MuyresFebruary 25, 1912 - June 15, 2011The death of Mrs. Regina Josephina (nee Nuxoll) Muyres of St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, SK, (and formerly of St. Gregor), occurred at her residence on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. She was 99 years of age. Regina was born on February 25, 1912, to Herman and Bernadette Nuxoll at Garrel, Germany. In the late 1920s, the Nuxoll family immigrated to Canada and settled on a farm near Muenster, SK. Regina worked as a hired girl on the Knittig family farm and later as a domestic aide for the Bruser family in Humboldt. On October 23, 1934, Regina married Alfred Muyres. Following their marriage, they resided on the Muyres homestead one mile north of St. Gregor. Their union was blessed with a son, David. Always a hard worker, Regina was very much a part of the farming operation alongside her husband. As with many farm wives in that era, as well as tending to her household chores, she also milked the cows, planted, tended and harvested a huge vegetable garden every year, beautified the yard with beloved flower beds, and helped wherever she was needed. In 1963, Regina and Alfred moved into the village of St. Gregor where they appreciated a slower pace of life. Regina enjoyed bowling and, as a member of the St. Gregor C.W.L., taking part in their various activities, and Alfred carried on with his caretaking duties at the St. Gregor Curling Rink. They were both so proud of the successful curling involvements of their grandsons. On December 19, 1992, Alfred passed away. Regina continued to live in St. Gregor until 1996, when she moved to an apartment in Humboldt. Due to failing health, in 2010, a final move was made to St. Mary's Villa. Regina will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Anita Muyres of Humboldt; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild: Lyle (Janet) Muyres of St. Gregor and family, Dallan and Kirk; Warren (Colleen) Muyres of Muenster and family, Jessie, Andrew (Jenny) and daughter Isabella, Nicole, and Brett; Garth Muyres of St. Gregor; and Andrea (Korry) Meyer of St. Gregor and children Brittney and Jade; one brother, Alphonse; one sister, Ella; two sisters-in-law: Alvina Pitzel and Helen Boehm; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Muyres (December 19, 1992); one grandson, Craig Muyres; her parents, Herman and Bernadette Nuxoll; and by five brothers and one sister: Herman, Mary, Alfred, Hubert, Henry and Ernest. The Prayer Service for Regina was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Friday, June 17, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., led by Glenn Taphorn. Scripture readers were Dallan Muyres and Kirk Muyres. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Gregory R.C. Church, St. Gregor, on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 10:00, concelebrated by Fr. Darryl Millette and Fr. Daniel Muyres, OSB. Others taking part were: Brett Muyres, cross bearer; David Zimmerman, altar server; Nicole Muyres, scripture reader and intentions; Brittney and Jade Tebbe, gift bearers; Suzanne Taphorn, organist. Pallbearers were Lyle, Warren, Garth, Dallan and Kirk Muyres, and Korry Meyer. Interment followed at St. Gregory R.C. Cemetery, St. Gregor. Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Gregory R.C. Cemetery Fund. SCHULER-LEFEBVRE, Humboldt, SK.
