Peter GurskyOctober 14, 1920 - November 3, 2011
Peter Michael Gursky of Humboldt passed away peacefully at the Humboldt District Hospital with his family at his side on November 3, 2011. He was 91 years of age. Peter was the fourth child born to Jacob and Katherine (Geisler) Gursky on October 14, 1920 in the Viscount District. He attended Auckland School. Peter grew up on the family farm during hard economic times and was required to work off the farm at an early age. He continued to work at many jobs so he could have his own land. He realized this dream in 1948 when he bought his homestead at Bay Trail. On October 6, 1962 Peter married Anne Yager at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, SK. Peter and Anne raised their family on the farm until 1973 when they moved into Humboldt. Peter continued to farm until 1988. A dedicated family man, Peter loved nothing more than getting together with his children and grandchildren to visit. In his retirement years he continued to keep in touch with the land, only on a smaller scale with vegetable and flower gardens; he enjoyed bowling and visiting with friends over coffee. Peter is lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Anne (nee Yager) Gursky of Humboldt; his four children: Glenda (John) Kohle of Cudworth and their family: Benjamin, Breanne, Clayton and Landon; Sharon (Greg) Dressler of Humboldt, and family: Tracy (fianc茅 Trent), Derrick and Chad; Brent (Norma) Gursky of Calgary and daughter Kari; and Kevin (Sherry) Gursky of Humboldt and sons Jordan and Brayden; one sister, Anne Gursky of Saskatoon; one brother, Jacob (Alma) Gursky of Kamloops, B.C.; two sisters-in-law: Olwen Gursky of Kitimat, B.C. and Theresa Bohmann of Prince Albert, Sask.; one brother- in- law, Arnold Poelzer of Kamloops, B.C., and by numerous nieces and nephews.
