Paul WoloschukJune 14, 1925 - September 26, 2011The death of Mr. Paul Woloschuk of St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, SK, occurred at his residence on Monday, September 26, 2011. He was 86 years of age. Paul was born on June 14, 1925, to Wasil and Mary (nee Kerelchuk) Woloschuk at Melville, SK. Following his formal education at Buchanan, SK, he worked for the C.N.R. While working near The Pas, MB, he met Theresa Bunz who was employed as a cook for a C.N.R. crew. On August 31, 1959, Paul and Theresa were married at St. Gertrude R.C. Church southeast of Muenster, SK, and made their home in Humboldt. After their marriage, Paul worked as a carpenter and, eventually, at Schulte Industries in Englefeld, SK, until his retirement. Although he and Theresa had no children of their own, they were parenting role models to many of their nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom they were very close to. On September 30, 1995, Theresa lost her battle with leukemia. Paul filled his days by going to the New Horizons Senior Citizens Hall, where he enjoyed visiting, playing cards, and singing in their choir. He also loved watching sports on T.V., especially curling and Blue Jays baseball games. Paul was a kind, easy-going, unassuming and down-to-earth man who appreciated the simple things in life, was always happy, and never complained. Even though he was more on the quiet side, he did have a quick wit and good sense of humor. In 2007, due to failing health, Paul moved out of his house and St. Mary's Villa became his home. He was very content there and was so grateful for the care he received. Paul will be lovingly remembered by one sister and five brothers: Mike Woloschuk; Matt (Maddie) Woloschuk; George (Jeanette) Woloschuk; Nick (Shirley) Woloschuk; Steve (Eleanor) Woloschuk; and Mary (John) Parsons of Cudworth, SK; brother-in-law, Arnold (Katie) Bunz of Rocanville, SK; sister-in-law, Veronica Becker of Prince George, BC; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa (nee Bunz) Woloschuk; parents, Wasil and Mary (nee Kerelchuk) Woloschuk; brother Alex in infancy; sister-in-law, Tillie Woloschuk; brothers-in-law: Prosper Becker and Adam Bunz; and by sister-in-law, Katherine (Nick) Merkosky. The Prayer Service for Paul was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., led by Marlene van Dresar and organist Marie Aubin. Scripture readers were Maddy Smith and Anita Ball. The Funeral Mass was offered on Friday, September 30, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Emile April. Others taking part were: Maddy Smith, crossbearer; Rita Frank and Jean Schmaultz, scripture readers; Elaine Zimmer, intentions; Ed Bunz and Otto Bunz, giftbearers. An honor guard was formed by members of the Knights of Columbus. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Paul's life." Active pallbearers were David Bunz, Anita Ball, Ron Merkosky, Matt Merkosky, Gabriella Parsons and Gordon Merkosky. Interment followed at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to either the St. Augustine Parish Building Fund or the St. Mary's Villa Foundation. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
