The death of Mr. Neil Britz, 53 years of Humboldt, occurred on April 11, 2011 at Humboldt District Hospital. Neil was born on April 26, 1957 in Humboldt to Jake and Eleanor (nee Therres) Britz. He grew up in Marysburg, attending Marysburg School and then Lake Lenore School. Following his education, Neil worked at a number of jobs including CN Rail, SK Wheat Pool Farm Service Center and Golden West Cinema & Video. On July 7, 1979, Neil married Joanne Brecht in Marysburg. They made their home in Humboldt where they raised their three children. In 1994, Neil began working as a caretaker with the Catholic Separate School Division, spending time at both St. Augustine and St. Dominic Schools. Then in 2002, he began working as the Head Caretaker at the Humboldt Public School, where he continued to work until the present. In his younger years, Neil played ball with the Marysburg Royals. He was an avid fan of the Humboldt Broncos, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Montreal Canadiens and the New York Yankees. Neil loved working in his yard and took great pride in how it looked. He enjoyed fishing in his younger days and was enjoying the game of golf in recent years, especially when he could go for a round with members of his family. They loved spending time camping at Waskesiu each summer. Neil especially enjoyed his job at the school, he loved 小蓝视频 around the children and their youthful enthusiasm. He also was a practical joker and many of the teachers were at the end of a joke or two over the years. Neil loved his dog, Mokee, who was his faithful companion. Neil was a family man and his family was always the most important part of his life. He was proud of the accomplishments of his children, was a loving grandpa to Olivia and was eagerly awaiting the birth of their second grandchild. Neil will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 31 years, Joanne (nee Brecht) Britz of Humboldt; their three children and one granddaughter: Amanda (Van) Austin; Dustin Britz (Clare Sharp); and Holly Britz (Cory Paetsch) and their daughter, Olivia, all of Regina; his three sisters and two brothers: Bernie Britz of Parkside; Bob (Jan) Britz of Saskatoon; Dennis (Marlene) Britz of Humboldt; Julie (Ron) Flaata of Melfort and Donna (Gordon) Rohrke of Sidney, BC; sister-in-law, Eleanor Britz of Watrous; in-laws of the Brecht family: mother-in-law, Margaret Brecht of Humboldt; Wally (Lynne) Brecht of Humboldt; Lori (Wes) Ennis of Fort Qu'Appelle; Barb (Stu) Moskaluke of Davidson; Denise Brecht (Les White) of Davidson; and Patrick (Les) Brecht of Peace River, AB; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Neil was predeceased by his parents, Jake and Eleanor Britz; brother, John Britz; and father-in-law, Bill Brecht. The Prayer Service for Neil was held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 7:30 p.m., led by Nestor Trach. The Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Emile April. Both services were held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt. Others taking part in the services were: readers at prayers, Lori Ennis and Abby Ennis; eulogist, Wally Brecht; cross bearer, Donna Rohrke; readers at mass, Denise Brecht and Barb Moskaluke; intercessions, Robert Britz; gift bearers, Patrick Brecht and Dave Lieffers and urn bearer, Dustin Britz. An Honour Guard was formed by the Humboldt Public School Staff. Interment followed in St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in Neil's memory may be made to the Humboldt Public School Future Playground (please make cheques payable to Horizon School Division, with "Britz Memorial" in the memo). Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Malinoski &Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt, SK.
