GAMMIE: Maurice

Maurice was born April 20, 1924 to Alexander & Violet Gammie. He was raised on a farm 4 miles east of Lockwood, SK along with 8 sisters. He and his first wife had two boys, Douglas and Barry. Sadly, Faye passed away when the boys were babies. Later Maurice moved to Vancouver where he and Olive had two children, Heather and Maurie. In 1979, he moved back to Saskatchewan where he lived in the Melfort and Humboldt areas. While in Humboldt he met and married Anne Karasiuk and subsequently moved to Tway. Anne鈥檚 family adopted him and they were his family for the last 27 years. Anne and Maurice loved to travel in Northern Saskatchewan to camp, fish and pick blueberries. They enjoyed 小蓝视频 on cruises with Lawrence and Barb Karasiuk. When Maurice and Anne鈥檚 health began to fail, they had to leave their many beloved gardens in Tway and move to Saskatoon. Maurice was diagnosed with Parkinson鈥檚 disease which soon left him in a wheel chair. Anne鈥檚 family loved and cared for Maurice with great compassion. Diane & Shirley attended to his many needs. In 2006, Maurice moved to Sherbrooke Community Center where he resided until his death on October 26, 2015, at the age of 91. Maurice is survived by his children, Doug (Frances), Barry (Ruth), Heather (Dean) and Maurie; grandchildren, Shantel (Peter), Brent (Sandra), Sheri, Quinn (Eileen), Kate, Christopher (Samantha), Lisa, Jennifer and Marisa; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ewan, Erik, Zavier, Gianna, Drake, Ryker, and Avery; step-children, Diane (Albert) Hergott, Shirley (Michael) LaClaire and Lawrence (Barbara); step-grandchildren, Randy (Cheryl), Christopher (Sandra), Darren (Krista), Patrick (Miranda), Peter, Adam and Suzanne; and sisters Hazel, Alice, Irene. Maurice was predeceased by his first wife Faye; second wife Olive; third wife Anne; and siblings, Mary, Jeanne, Marion, Anne, Nellie. A Memorial Service will be held in the Sherbrooke Community Center Chapel on November 6th at 1:30 pm. Lunch will follow. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sherbrooke Community Centre for their excellent care.
