Peacefully, on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake, SK, Mary (nee Senko) Syroteuk beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, laid down to rest one last time. She was in her 82nd year. Mary was born on January 1, 1933 to Andrew and Anna (nee Huculak) Senko, at home, on the family farm. She attended Mile End School, in the Burr district. On October 12, 1955, the marriage of Mary and Joe Syroteuk took place at the Wolverine Ukrainian Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children, two girls and a boy: Valerie on December 24, 1956, Cyril on May 19, 1958 and Donna on February 28, 1963. Her faith in God permeated her whole life, and was a huge inspiration to her children and grandchildren. Because of a stroke on May 8, 2005, Mary moved into St. Mary’s Villa. She resided there until October 15, 2015 when both she and Joe moved to Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake. After 10 years, they were fortunate enough to live under the same roof again! What a blessing… Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Joseph (Joe) Syroteuk, one son and two daughters, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren: Valerie (Brian) LaBrash of Bruno and family, Stan (Vivian Overton), and Laura (Kevin) Gibney and daughter Eileen; Cyril (Lois) Syroteuk of Three Hills, AB and family, Brandy (James) Walden and daughter Isabella, Sherry (Troy) Cole and children Jacob, Dixon and Addie, Jolene (Jesse) Hiltz and children Erika, Ryan and Shawn, TJ (Joanna), and Holly; and Donna (Francis) Novecosky of Humboldt and family, Adam (Sarah) and children Kayden and Emma, and Joshua (Jennifer Bells) and children Jake and Rhett; one sister and one brother: Betty Hall and Cyril (Diane) Senko; seven sisters-in-law: Margeurite Senko, Alice Syroteuk, Rita Syroteuk, Bernadette (Binnie) Knaus, Mary Kobzey, Delores McKeown and Louise Hale; two brothers-in-law, Mike and Mervin (Jean) Syroteuk; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Anna (nee Huculak) Senko; son-in-law, Keith Foulds; four brothers: Steven (in infancy), William, John and Mike; parents-in-law, Fred and Annie (nee Paproski) Syroteuk; five sisters-in-law: Jean Senko, Mary Senko, Valentina Syroteuk, Emily Dodd, Gladys Syroteuk; 11 brothers-in-law: Harold Hall, Ted Dodd, John, Walter, Casmir (Kayo), Louis, and Leonard Syroteuk, Eddie Knaus, Bill Kobzey, Paul McKeown and Cyril Hale; and three nephews: Richard (Ricky) Senko, Michael John Senko (in infancy) and Glen Dodd. The Prayer Service celebrating Mary’s life was held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt. The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, celebrated by Fr. Paul Paproski, OSB. Memorial Donations may be directed to either St. Augustine Parish Roof Repair Project, or Humboldt District Hospital Foundation, General Equipment Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt.
