The passing of Lloyd of LeRoy, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the age of 64 years. Lloyd was born on September 18, 1950, to William and Alice (nee Fouhse) Taphorn in LeRoy, SK, and attended Newnham School and LeRoy School. On June 1, 1974, Lloyd married Linda Mueller in Muenster, SK, but made their home in LeRoy, and they were blessed with four daughters: Lanna, Shawna, Teri and Nicole. For many years, Lloyd was the town foreman for LeRoy of which he retired in 2012. He belonged to the LeRoy Wildlife Federation, the Elks, LeRoy Fire Department and the LeRoy Ambulance. Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, reffing, watching westerns, teaching firearm safety, going for coffee with his friends, but mostly spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Lloyd will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda (nee Mueller) Taphorn; his four daughters and their families: Lanna (Glen) Martin of Watson and children, Mark, Kelsey, Hunter, Blake and Sydney; Shawna Doucette (Geoff) of Yorkton and children, Kara, Kyle and Hope; Teri (Mike) O'Sullivan of Calgary and children, Tianna, Declan and Teagan; and Nicole (Trevor) Fisher of Regina and children, Taleah and Mikaela; his two brothers, Glenn (Suzanne) Taphorn and Eldon (Trudy) Taphorn; his two sisters, Lorraine Hawke (Stewart) and Beverly Taphorn; sister-in-law, Brenda (Ernie) Zubot; brother-in-law, Wilfred Mueller; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, William (1982) and Alice (2002) (nee Fouhse) Taphorn; parents-in-law, Steve (2008) and Annie (2011) Mueller; sisters-in-law, Dianne Mueller (2007) and Catherine Mueller (in infancy). A Prayer Service for Lloyd was held at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, LeRoy, SK, on Friday, October 24, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. presided by Dianna Knaus. The eulogy was delivered by Glenn Taphorn and the scripture readers were Tammy Mueller and Eldon Taphorn. The Funeral Mass was offered at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, LeRoy, on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. celebrated by Fr. Paul Paproski, OSB. Others taking part were: Suzanne Taphorn, organist; Leona Wakelam, solist; Kyle Taphorn, crossbearer; Beverly Taphorn and Marsha Taphorn, scripture readers; Brenda Zubot, intentions; Hope Doucette, Blake Martin, Sydney Martin, Tianna O'Sullivan, Declan O'Sullivan, Taleah Fisher, Teagan O'Sullivan and Mikaela Fisher, giftbearers; and Elaine Cales and Gail Hanson, memorial table attendants. An honor guard was formed by former and current council members and staff members of the Town of LeRoy. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Lloyd's life especially those he hunted with". Active pallbearers were Mark Martin, Kelsey Martin, Hunter Martin, Kara Taphorn, Joel Taphorn and Marshall Zubot. Interment followed at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Cemetery, LeRoy. Memorial donations may be directed to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit, Canadian Cancer Society, Holy Rosary R.C. Cemetery Fund, or Raise the Roof (LeRoy Rink).
