The death of Mrs. Josephine "Josie" Brigida (nee Doherty) King of Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK, occurred at her residence on Thursday, May 29, 2014. She was 90 years of age. Josephine was born on December 3, 1923, to Matthew and Marie (nee Roussin) Doherty at Birsay, SK. The family moved to Daylesford, SK, when Josephine was about 10 years old. At the age of 13, she left home to work for a family at Ethelton, SK. Josephine was working in a caf茅 in Middle Lake where she met Herman King. They were married in Prince Albert, SK, on March 2, 1944, and began their life together on the King homestead west of Lucien Lake. Two children, a son and a daughter, were born to them; however, their son died in infancy. Besides helping on the farm, Josephine worked at Bethany Pioneer Village for over 18 years. During the last four year, Josephine lived in Aspen Manor at Bethany Pioneer Village. Family was very important to her. She cherished her brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, but especially her grandchildren, Jason and Bradley and their families. Josephine will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Genevieve (Harold) Stauber; two grandsons: Jason (Dana) Stauber and family, Mackenzie Siba and son Trey; and Bradley (Theresa) Stauber and family, Keifer and Myia Stauber; one brother, Jim (JoAnn) Doherty; sister-in-law, Genevieve Doherty; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman King (January 24, 2012); infant son, Sylvester King; three brothers: John, Frank and Thomas; and by four sisters: Mary, Cecelia, Therese and Teresa. The Funeral Service was held at the Middle Lake Town Hall on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ryan Schnee. Others taking part were: Jenneke Schnee, music ministry; Dori Cooke, organist; and Lorna Kaun, memorial table attendant. Honorary pallbearers were Diane Nosbush, Genevieve Doherty, Herman Doherty, and all the caregivers at Aspen Manor. Tribute bearers were grandsons, Jason and Bradley Stauber. A private family interment service was held. Memorial donations may be directed to the Bethany Pioneer Village Building Fund. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
