KIEFER: Joseph The death of Mr. Joseph Kiefer, 87 years of Humboldt, occurred on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Humboldt District Hospital. Joseph was born on September 10, 1927 to Karl and Katherine (nee Muyres) Kiefer at St. Gregor.

The death of Mr. Joseph Kiefer, 87 years of Humboldt, occurred on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Humboldt District Hospital. Joseph was born on September 10, 1927 to Karl and Katherine (nee Muyres) Kiefer at St. Gregor. He grew up on the farm in the St. Gregor area and attended St. Gregor School. Joseph worked on the family farm and as a hired man for other farmers, before eventually purchasing his own farm. On August 1, 1950, he married Anna Nienaber at St. Ann's Church in Annaheim. They lived on his parent's farm for a number of years and then in 1958 they purchased land at Muenster and began operating their mixed farming operation there. Together they raised eight children and enjoyed life on the farm. Joseph especially enjoyed working with the horses. Through the years, he also worked as a School Bus Driver and for 12 1/2 years as a Dairyman at St. Peter's College. He enjoyed curling in his younger years, and in his later years watched curling, hockey and baseball on TV. Joseph served on the local school board for a number of years. In July 2005, Joseph and Anna moved to Humboldt and into their present home on October 1st of that year. He loved when their family would get together and the addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren filled his heart with joy. Joseph will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 64 years, ANNA Kiefer of Humboldt; their seven children and their families: Alphonse's family, Cathy Kiefer and family, Joseph (Tanya) and children Chaz and Aurora, and Terry-Lynn Kiefer, all of Moose Jaw; Ronald (Joanne) Kiefer of Drake and family, Trevor's family, Kristine Kiefer and children Desirae and Brooklyn of Gibbons, AB, Brent (Dixie) Kiefer and children Xander and Tamia of Esk, Scott(Erin) Kiefer of Regina and Jason Kiefer of Saskatoon; Caroline (Donald) Bendig and family, Sarah Bendig (Jonathan Young), all of Prince Albert; Margaret (Howard) Green of Barnwell, AB and family, Coreen Hyde (Adam Squires) and children Samantha and Alexandra of England, and Allan Hyde and his children Mykala, Melena, Marissa and Breanna of Lethbridge, AB; Sally (Norbert) Teiber of Humboldt and family, Cheryl Blechinger of Humboldt, Kevin (Charity) Blechinger and children Liam and Rory of Prince Albert, Michael Blechinger of Saskatoon, Melanie Blechinger of Humboldt, Travis (Nicola) Teiber and family of St. Brieux and Nadia (Grant) Closson and family of Saskatoon; Rosemarie (Paul) Bochek and family, Christopher (Heidi) Bochek and daughter Avery, Matthew (Carmen) Bochek, and Nicole (Brody) Picard, all of Moose Jaw; Jacqueline (Colin) Stroeder of Calgary, AB; and Gerard (Marilyn) Kiefer of Melfort and family, Melissa Kiefer of Saskatoon, Brenden Kiefer, Shelby Rae Kiefer and Megan Brooke Kiefer, all of Melfort; two brothers and one sister: Tony (Theresa) Kiefer, Martin (Dora) Kiefer, and Mary Corniere, all of Humboldt; sister-in-law, Dolores Kiefer of LeRoy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Karl and Katherine Kiefer; son, Alphonse Kiefer; grandson, Trevor Kiefer; son-in-law, Daniel Blechinger; two brothers and one sister: Carl Kiefer, Katherine (Clem) Niekamp and Herman Kiefer (in infancy). The Funeral Mass for Joseph was held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, concelebrated by Fr. Paul Paproski, OSB and Fr. Daniel Muyres, OSB. Interment followed in St. Peter's Parish Cemetery, Muenster. Memorial donations in Joseph's memory may be made to the St. Augustine Parish Building Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt.
