It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Edward Engele of Carmel, SK, announce his passing at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK, on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. He was 57 years of age. Fred was born to Michael and Martha (nee Pappenfoot) Engele at Humboldt, SK, on April 7, 1954. He grew up on the family farm near Carmel and attended Carmel School for his early education. He then completed his high school education at HCI in Humboldt , then went to work for the CNR while continuing to live in Humboldt. Fred continued working as a conductor for the next 37 years, until his retirement at age 55. After his retirement, he lived in the Carmel area where he purchased and renovated the Carmel School. In his youth, Fred played hockey, and fastball, and loved camping and hunting. He was also an avid Rider fan and was a season ticket holder for many years. Besides 小蓝视频 a big sports fan, Fred also enjoyed woodworking, including building cabinets and also a log cabin. He loved the outdoors, especially visiting with family and friends around the evening campfire. He liked taking his son Luke to auction sales to look for things that he might need for his farm, which he continued to dabble with over the years. He also did a bit of travelling, visiting places like Australia, Cuba and also the Northwest Territories, where he canoed on the Nahanni River. Fred is survived by his son Luke of Saskatoon, SK; his 10 siblings: Edwin Engele and Leona Engele, both of Regina, SK; Linda Engele, Michael Engele and Vikki (Bruce) Mager, all of Edmonton, AB; Lorne (Linda) Engele of Macklin, SK; Rick Engele of Edson, AB; Nidia Engele of Saskatoon, SK; Pauline (Ken) Hantke of Humboldt, SK; and Kim Engele of Edmonton, AB; sister-in-law, Theresa Engele of Grande Prairie, AB; and by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Martha (nee Pappenfoot) Engele; brother, Allan Engele; and sister-in-law, Judy Engele. The Funeral Service for Fred will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Humboldt, SK, on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
