HURION : Fernand Eugene Fernand Eugene Hurion, age 90, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 while a resident at the Pineview Lodge in Nipawin. He was born on November 14, 1923 in Dana, SK the second child of Germain and Rose Hurion.

Fernand Eugene Hurion, age 90, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 while a resident at the Pineview Lodge in Nipawin. He was born on November 14, 1923 in Dana, SK the second child of Germain and Rose Hurion. He grew up in the St Front district, attending the Barrier Lake School. During his younger years he enjoyed playing guitar in a band that played three times a week. In his spare time he was busy building snowplanes and bombadiers. He even built his own snowmobile. He had a real talent for building and repairing things. In 1951, Fern moved to the Choiceland area and bought some farm land. He met and married Betty Mollison and together raised two sons. He moved to La Ronge and began working for Northern Co-op Trading Services. Being an avid fisherman and hunter he loved the north. He started his own plumbing and heating business and worked at that until 1993 when he moved back to Choiceland. He made many trips back to the farm at St Front and to Peterson to visit family and friends. Fern is survived by his two sons Stewart, granddaughter Dawn (Ed) McLeod and family; Lyle (Connie), Dale (Lupine) and family, Gary (Jennifer) and family; his sister Germaine Dubreuil; his brother Gerard (Marcella) Hurion; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Paul Dubreuil. Interment of cremated remains will take place at the St Front Cemetery, to be announced at a later date. He will be sadly missed. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Memorial Chapel, Prince Albert, SK, Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
