The passing of Ernie Schoettler of Watson, SK, occurred on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the age of 66 years. Ernie was born on May 29, 1948 to Herman and Katherine (nee Schueller) Schoettler in LeRoy, SK and received his education at Korbel School. He took over the family farm in 1965. He continued to live with his mother on the farm until her passing in June of 1988. On October 8, 1988, Ernie married Grace Unilowsky and they continued to live on the family farm. They were blessed with the birth of two children, Tenie and Michael. At a young age, he took on the job of СÀ¶ÊÓƵ a school bus driver which he did for 30 years. Ernie was always punctual and very dependable. He was a kind-hearted, gentle man and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Ernie loved animals especially his children’s dogs which were like grandchildren to him. He had a love for tinkering so would tackle any job that was a challenge. Ernie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughter Tenie (John) Longmuir of Quill Lake, SK, and son Mike Schoettler (Michaela Fetter) of Humboldt; one brother Bernard (Jeanette) Schoettler of Watson; one sister Elizabeth Burgess of Maple Creek, SK; sister-in-law Ramona Schoettler of Spruce Home, SK; brother-in-law Jerome Rath of Humboldt; in-laws from Grace’s family: Steve (Marg) Unilowsky of Watson, Victor (Pat) Unilowsky of Lloydminster, AB, Gerti Sjostrom of Calgary, AB, Linda (Miles) Hrnyk of Wadena, SK; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Grace (nee Unilowsky) Schoettler; his parents Herman and Katherine (nee Schueller) Schoettler; brother Clem Schoettler; sisters, Rosella (Ivan) Earl and Eileen Rath; and brother-in-law John Burgess. The Prayer Service for Ernie was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Watson, on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. presided by Wanda Bryce and Willie Gaudet. Organist was Laurie Sproule and scripture readers were Joan Molle and Michaela Fetter. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, January 30, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. celebrated by Fr. Darryl Millette. Others taking part were: Rodney Schoettler, crossbearer; Joan Molle and Donna Schoettler, scripture readers; Donna Schoettler, intentions; Holly Jensen; memorial table attendant. The eulogy was delivered by Rodney Schoettler. Honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in Ernie’s life. Active pallbearers were Ken Schoettler, Curtis Schoettler, Steve Unilowsky, Stan Burgess, Brad Schoettler and Brent Unilowsky. Interment followed at Watson Public Cemetery, Watson.
