The death of Mr. Douglas "Doug" Kohle of Cudworth occurred peacefully at the Cudworth Nursing Home on Thursday, February 16, 2012. He was 66 years of age. Doug was born on April 10, 1945, to Eric and Hilda (nee Rosentrater) Kohle in Bruno and delivered by Nurse Hering. He attended St. Boniface School, which was located by the original Leofold Church. In 1963, after completing his formal education, Doug started working for Prefontane Road Construction, then three years later, he accepted employment with White Trucks Construction Equipment in Saskatoon. Doug was married in 1967 and, in 1969, his father was injured in a farming accident, so Doug returned to the Cudworth area to help run the farm. During his time on the farm, three sons were born: Dwight in 1968, Kevin in 1970, and Les in 1974. In 1980, Doug accepted the position of the rink caretaker in Cudworth. Six years later, he met Carol, and they were married in 1996. That union joined their two families together. In 1990, Doug started working as a maintenance man at the Cudworth Nursing Home and Bethany Pioneer Village. He continued at Bethany until his retirement in 2008. Even though Douglas worked at different jobs he continued to farm, as that was his greatest passion. He also enjoyed tinkering and fixing things, for himself and others. An active member of the community, Doug was involved in the Lions Club, and with Minor Hockey as a coach and president of the league. In his leisure time, he enjoyed curling, and socializing with his friends on coffee row. Doug will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Carol (nee Clayton) Kohle of Cudworth, SK; his three sons and five grandchildren: Dwight (Tanya) of Humboldt, SK, and children Kody and Luke; Kevin of Cudworth, SK; and Leslie (Brenda) of Rimbey, AB, and children Matthew, Elly, and Casey; step-children and grandchildren: Angela (Brad) Gampe and children Bradley, Cody, Austin, and Joshua; Aaron (Michelle) Hadland and son Dylan; and Shawna (Cory) Uliski and children Alannah and Sydney, all of Cudworth, SK; his father, Eric Kohle of Humboldt; three sisters and one brother: Linda (Dennis) Bender of Bruno, SK; Judy (Dave) Monz of Humboldt, SK; Joyce Kohle of Saskatoon, SK; and Norm (Teresa) Kohle of Grandora, SK; the mother of his children, Sylvia, of Bruno, SK; sister-in-law, Liz Kohle of Bon Accord, AB; mother-in-law, Ferne Clayton of Kinistino, SK Carol's two sisters and one brother: Cheryl Burns ( Tim Wiggins); Joycelyn (John) Bonk, both of Kinistino, SK; and Ron (Paulette) Clayton of Weldon, SK; sister-in-law, Debbie Clayton of Kinistino, SK; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
