KNOBLAUCH -After a long, brave courageous battle with cancer, the family is saddened to announce that Mrs. Doreen Knoblauch, 71 years, of Humboldt, passed away at her residence, St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt on October 4, 2011. Doreen was born to Joseph Sr. and Katherine (nee Schneider) Pokolm in Humboldt on March 9, 1940. Doreen was raised in the Muenster area and received her education at St. James School. As a young adult Doreen was employed at the Humboldt Caf茅. She met Edwin at a dance in Muenster and they were married at St. Peter's Cathedral in Muenster on July 29, 1959. They moved to Humboldt and Doreen was busy as a homemaker and mother while Ed worked for Schenn's Plumbing and Heating for 10 years. In 1967, they bought shares in W and L Plumbing and Heating and then changed the name to Humboldt Plumbing and Heating. Doreen worked as a secretary in their business. Ed and Doreen bought a cabin at Missinippi, Saskatchewan and the family spent many happy hours there. They loved to camp and fish, starting with a tent and working up to owning a cabin. They spent many memorable trips at their cabin but the highlight was when the whole family went to Alaska. Ed and Doreen then continued to travel to many destinations in Canada and the U.S.A., also making trips to Jamaica and Hawaii. Doreen's hobbies included bowling, reading, crocheting doilies, playing cards, shopping and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved canning her produce from her garden. Family was very important to Doreen and she continued to have a very close relationship with her brothers and sisters. In 1995, Ed and Doreen retired and they began to spend their winters in B.C. Doreen loved her grandchildren and was very proud of all their accomplishments. She was in her glory when the grandbabies started to arrive. Her children and grandchildren were very important to Doreen and she always made time to attend all their sports and activities.
