He was 88 years of age. Carl was born on June 28, 1923, to Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Schmidt) Silzer at home on their farm in the Cupar district of Saskatchewan. In 1951, he married Evelyn Sommer. Carl and Evelyn built their home on the farm south of Watson. As well as farming, Carl was employed as a painter and worked many years in Regina and in the Watson area. He was caretaker of Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery and provided janitorial duties with Evelyn at Sacred Heart R.C. Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. Carl's favorite leisure activities included hunting, fishing, and berry picking. He enjoyed the many fishing excursions he took with various members of his family, particularly his grandchildren, and with his good friend, Fr. Daniel Muyres, OSB. As well, he spent innumerable hours in his workshop. Carl loved nature and the outdoors and was very fond of birds and his cats. He was especially known as a very warm, compassionate and caring person who seldom complained about anything. Although he was a man of few words, he was a good listener and always willing to help anyone whenever he could. He was predeceased by two grandsons: Curtis and Gregory; one great-grandson, Lucas; his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Schmidt) Silzer; two brothers: Joseph (Hazel) Silzer and Ferdinand Silzer; two sisters: Agnes (Mike) Mospany and Clara Silzer; and by sister-in-law, Reta Silzer.
