It is with profound sadness that the family of Cecil Gregory Raab of Humboldt, SK, announces his sudden and unexpected passing on Monday, December 29, 2014, at his residence. He was 67 years of age. Cecil was born on August 23, 1947, to Louis and Frances (nee Reiter) Raab at Humboldt. He grew up on the family farm at St. Gregor, SK, and attended Harvest School. Cecil started farming on his own when he purchased a farm at St. Gregor in the early 1970's. In 1981, he moved to Maryfield when he purchased a larger farm. Cecil worked hard for everything he had and was well known for his meticulous farming practices. On a very cold and blustery April 27, 1984, he married the love of his life, Linda. He also bravely became a kind and loving father to two young girls, Jill and Michelle. Cecil and Linda sold their Maryfield farm in early 2010 and harvested their last crop in that fall. They retired to Humboldt in May 2011 and kept busy travelling ever since. Cecil enjoyed camping and fishing, spending last summer in a seasonal camping site at Good Spirit Lake. With a little help from Linda and the girls he became an avid curling and football fan. Cecil and Linda have also been dedicated season ticket holders of the Humboldt Broncos for the last four years. A genuine and loving person, Cecil valued his family and friends and will be sadly missed. Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Linda (nee Sorenson) Raab of Humboldt, SK; two children Jill (Jason) Fifield of Calgary, AB, and Michelle (Brent) Maystrowich of White City. His pride and joy were his four grandchildren: Arden, Treyton, Parker and Sloan. Thankfully the entire family spent the 2014 Christmas season together. Cecil is also survived by four brothers and one sister: Brian Raab, Murray (Donna) Raab, Lorne (Lorette) Raab, Lester (Karen) Raab, and Ann (Claude) Gueguen; sister-in-law, Judy Skiba; brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Eric (Myrna) Sorenson, Glen (Deb) Sorenson and Karen (Calvin) Lincoln; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Frances (nee Reiter) Raab; one brother, Rick Raab; two nephews: James and Darren; and by his parents-in-law, Viggo and Dorothy Sorenson. The Funeral Service was held at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, St. Gregor, on Friday, January 2, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Fr. Darryl Millette. Others taking part were: Jill Fifield, eulogist; Arden Fifield, crossbearer; Brent Maystrowich and Kristal Demas, scripture readers; Claude Gueguen, intentions; Cheryl and Dean DeRoo, memorial table attendants; and Suzanne Taphorn, organist. Active pallbearers were Sheldon Bley, Blair Bley, John Lemon, Ryan Raab, Chris Lincoln, and Michael Raab. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Raab, Garry Raab, Mel Raab, Ed Trimmel, Richard Gossner, Tom Gossner, Pete McIndoe, Bruce Lemon and Doug Dixon. Interment followed at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Arthritis Society or the St. Gregory Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
