It is with broken hearts that the family of Carol Dianne (nee Milner) Winkel announces her passing on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2015, at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK. She was 72 years of age. Carol was born on February 5, 1943, to Robert and Anne (nee Mish) Milner at Lethbridge, AB. She was raised in East Coulee, where she began her formal education. In 1958, the Milner family moved to Saskatoon, SK. Carol enrolled in a secretarial course at Saskatoon Business College in 1960. On August 15, 1964, she married Frank Winkel at St. Francis R.C. Church in Saskatoon. They began their life together in Humboldt, where Carol was employed at the Humboldt Clinic for a year. Carol and Frank moved to Middle Lake in 1967. They were blessed with two daughters; Tammy on July 4, 1967, and Pamela on March 17, 1970. While living in Middle Lake, Carol was employed at the Middle Lake Savings and Credit Union and, in November 1970, became secretary-treasurer of the Village of Middle Lake. She was a director on the Credit Union Board and a member of the C.W.L. In her leisure time, Carol spent many pleasurable hours doing crafts, knitting, bowling, playing piano, gardening, tidying, visiting over coffee with her friends and, in the last few years, sitting in her chair enjoying visits with her family and friends, and watching the deer and birds as they came to eat in her back yard. Carol will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 50 years, Frank Winkel; their two children: Tammy Winkel, and Pamela Winkel (Heath Beaudry); three grandchildren: Brian (Shelene) Hoffman, Chris Hoffman, and Rebecca Kupchinski; five great-grandchildren: Dakota Hoffman, Savannah Hoffman, Ryder Hoffman, Eric Hoffman, and Leo Hoffman; two sisters: Roberta Milner and Sylvia (Ed) Blasken; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Hoffman; parents, Robert and Anne Milner (Mish); and by her brother, Gary Milner. The Funeral Mass was offered at Canadian Martyrs R.C. Church, Middle Lake, on Friday, May 15, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Lawrence DeMong, OSB. Others taking part were: Savannah Hoffman, crossbearer; Laird Pomedli and Declan Punk, altar servers; Shelene Hoffman, Tammy Winkel and Pamela Winkel, scripture readers; Cheryl Schmitz, intentions; Tammy Winkel and Pamela Winkel, giftbearers; Rhonda Baker, organist; Jamie Winkel and Leon Winkel, eulogists; Madeline Schmitz and Mary Ellen LaBrash, memorial table attendants. Urnbearers were Brian, Chris, Dakota and Ryder Hoffman, Rebecca Kupchinski and Heath Beaudry. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Saskatchewan Lung Association or Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
