Arnold Bruno ThimmAugust 23, 1932 - May 6, 2011It is with great sadness that the family of Arnold Thimm announces his passing at his residence St. Mary's Villa, on Friday May 6th, 2011. He was 78 years of age. Arnold was born to Bruno and Maria (nee Wunderlich) Thimm on August 23rd, 1932. He was the oldest of four sons. Arnold grew up on the Thimm family farm near Bruno and attended Hoffman school for a few years until he had to help full time on the farm. Eventually, he left home to work at a saw mill in British Columbia, helped build the air force base at Cold Lake, Alberta and worked in Uranium City as a mechanic. While working off the farm he sent money home to his dad to purchase his own land. He returned home to farm and to marry his sweet heart Virginia. On July 13, 1960 they were married at Marysburg. They settled in Bruno and raised their family of eight. In the early 1960's, Arnold took welding classes in Edmonton and along with his self-taught mechanic skills he found work in Bruno at Schmeiser's garage, Schlosser's garage and Leon's Welding and Repair. Away from work, Arnold was a member of the Bruno Wildlife Federation and for many years did the horn measuring in his garage. In 1988 Virginia passed away and Arnold continued to live and work in Bruno. After retiring, he now had time to enjoy fishing, hunting, touring, tinkering in his garage (where he would invent and had the ability to make something out of nothing). These talents were seen in the snow plane and ARGO he built. Most of all retirement allowed him more time with his family especially to tease his grandchildren and watch them grow up. Eventually Arnold moved to Prairie View housing in Bruno and due to failing health became a resident of St. Mary's Villa. A hard working generous man he would help anyone and expect nothing in return. He had a quiet faith which strengthened him through the loss of his wife, son and granddaughter. Arnold will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his five daughters, and two sons: and their families; Linda (Glenn) Suer of Humboldt and children: Brandy (Clay) Wagner and son Austin of Saskatoon, Keenan Suer (Jillian Ewen) of Humboldt; Donna (Kevin) Hammerer and son Dylan all of Humboldt; Gary (Donna) Thimm and children Jared and Shelby all of Carmel; Lita (Cliff) Kiefer and children Brittney and Brayden all of Humboldt; Wendy (Tim) Fraess and children Lauren, Tyson and Ashley all of Humboldt; Brian (Kenda) Thimm of Humboldt; Trina (Aldon) Doepker and children Colten and Kelsey all of Humboldt; daughter-in-law, Lorenda Thimm and son Tristen (Warren Hauser & Makayla) all of Lake Lenore; one brother Alphonse (Myrna) Thimm of Bruno; and sister-in-law Helen Thimm of Humboldt. He was predeceased by his parents Bruno and Maria (nee Wunderlich) Thimm; brothers Ewald Thimm and Leo Thimm; his wife Virginia Thimm, 1988; grand-daughter Courtney Hammerer, 1998; son Bruce Thimm, 2001; and parents-in-law, Anthony and Mary Stroeder. The Prayer Service for Arnold was held on Sunday, May 8th, 2011, from the St. Bruno R.C. Church, Bruno, at 7:30 p.m., presided by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB. The scripture readers were: Lorenda Thimm and Brittney Keifer; the eulogy was delivered by Lita Kiefer. Funeral Mass was offered on Monday, May 9, 2011 from the St. Bruno R.C. Church, Bruno, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB. Others taking part were: Tristen Thimm, cross bearer; Kenda Thimm and Trina Doepker, scripture readers; Brian Thimm, intentions; Shelby Thimm, Brandy Suer, Ashley Fraess, gift bearers; Aldon Doepker, communion minister. Honorary Pallbearers: "All those who shared in Arnold's life". Active Pallbearers were: Lauren Fraess, Kelsey Doepker, Keenan Suer, Jared Thimm, Dylan Hammerer, Colten Doepker, Brayden Kiefer, and Tyson Fraess. Internment followed at the St. Bruno R.C.
