Arlene passed away peacefully with her family at her side at Royal University Hospital ICU in Saskatoon. Arlene was born and raised in Humboldt, SK and she married Gerry Hermann of Bruno, SK on April 4, 1964. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Calgary, but their hearts and roots were in Humboldt so after two years they returned there. Arlene and Gerry were blessed with three children – Craig, Lisa and Terry - to whom Arlene devoted her life. She completed the Office Education program at St. Pete’s College in Muenster and also worked outside of home briefly, but family was her primary focus and she soon dedicated all her attention to providing a warm welcoming home for her family and friends. Coffee was always on in Arlene’s kitchen and she loved vegetable gardening, canning and preparing huge meals for large numbers of people, especially on Boxing Day. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, Bingo and of course, shopping. She was the family babysitter and house painter and she always made time to help everyone. She loved every aspect of all holidays and decorated her house for every occasion. Arlene had a big heart and always wanted to share and include everyone; she was happiest when she was surrounded by a house full of people. As a family they camped at various Saskatchewan lakes and created many memories with other families. Later Arlene and Gerry put their summer roots down at Wakaw Lake and continued to create wonderful memories hosting their friends, children and grandchildren and of course as many of their grandchildren’s friends as would fit in the bunk house. Arlene cherished her times at Wakaw Lake; it was her special place of serenity and family. She loved СÀ¶ÊÓƵ involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives. Even in the last few months as she struggled with health issues, you couldn’t stop her from coddling over her grandchildren and great grandchildren and you could often find her at the sidelines cheering on the Hilltops, a team that two of her grandsons play for. Arlene also loved travelling and music which was always a part of her social life as she enjoyed Craven, singing and dancing with friends when she was younger, and more recently attending many musicals and country music concerts with Lisa. Arlene’s warm and caring heart will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years Gerry Hermann of Humboldt, three children, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Craig (Ann) Hermann and sons Blake and Tyler; Lisa (Mike) Kleiter and daughters Joelle (Brad) Melnychuk and daughter Kinlee, and Kristen Kleiter (Chad) all of Saskatoon; Terry Hermann of Humboldt and son Matthew (Angel Britton) Poppel and children Silas and Peyton of Saskatoon; and her biggest fan, special canine friend, Lexie. Also left to mourn are sisters and brothers: Murray Stauber of Saskatoon, Gloria Meyers of Humboldt, Audrey Stauber (Perrie) of Hudson Bay, LeeAnn (Gene) Gerspacher of Humboldt, stepbrother Clifford (Linda) Stauber of St. Albert, AB and stepsister Geraldine Lykkemark of Calgary; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jack Johanson of Saskatoon, Loreen Weyland of Humboldt, Almira McKitrick of Burnaby, BC, Annette (Ron) Joestl of Calgary, Larry Hermann of Saskatoon, Al (Bernadette) Hermann of Saskatoon, Annabelle (Bob) Oddie of Calgary, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Arlene was predeceased by her mother Louise Stauber and stepfather Joseph Stauber, stepsister Shirley Johanson, brother-in-law Joe Freve, parents-in-law Constantine and Ethel Hermann, and brothers and sisters-in-law: Ricki Hermann, Damaris and Mickey Finn, Albinus Hermann, Theodore Weyland, and Elaine and Herbert Hermann (in infancy). A Prayer Service was held on Monday, November 9th at 7:30 pm and the Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, November 10th at 2:00 pm both services were from St. Augustine Roman Catholic Parish. Interment followed at St. Augustine Cemetery Humboldt. Memorial donations in Arlene’s memory may be directed to Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to MALINOSKI & DANYLUIK FUNERAL HOME Humboldt.
