Anne Brataschuk (nee Korzyk) died peacefully at Stensrud Lodge, Saskatoon on Monday,July 12, 2010. Anne was born at home on the family farm in the Ponass Lake area to Alex and Ksenia (nee Zazula) Korzyk. She attended Zazula School and helped to raise her younger siblings. On April 30,1939, Anne married the love of her life, Harry Brataschuk, at Fosston and they began farming east of Spalding. Anne loved farm life; helping with farm work, gardening, cooking and looking after their home as well as raising their three daughters. Anne liked designing patterns, hand sewing until she acquired a Singer sewing machine with a foot pedal. Her career of choice would have been to be a dress designer. In 1965, Harry and Anne retired in Spalding. Anne was an accomplished cook, gardener and homemaker often sharing her baking and garden produce with others. She was a lifetime member of the UCW and an active member with the Willing Workers. Anne treasured her visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. While Harry instilled the need for education in his children, Anne instilled in them the importance of faith in God. Following Harry's death in 1998, Anne resided in Quill Lake for 5 years and then moved to the Ilarion Residence in Saskatoon for the next 6 years. She enjoyed her time there, reacquainting herself with childhood friends and extended family and having fun with the many planned activities available there. For the past 8 months, Anne resided at Stensrud Lodge where she was able to receive the extra care she needed. Anne will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three daughters, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren: Eunice Anderson of London, ON and family, Mike Anderson of London, Tom (Elaine) Anderson and children, Heather, Patrick and Jacqueline of St. Catherine's, ON and Steve Anderson of London; Elaine Gulutzan of Saskatoon and family, Susan (Victor) Hawryluk of Quill Lake and children, Alyssa Hawryluk (Jason Goodwin) and Spencer Hawryluk (Emma Nystuen), all of Saskatoon and Robert (Kerrie) Gulutzan and children, Colby and Ryan, of Cold Lake, AB; and Sonia (Dennis) Pylatuik of Quill Lake and family, Jeff (Jacqueline) Pylatuik and daughter, Sarah, of Humboldt and Andrea (Clarence) Boutin and children, Raiden and Katrina, of Saskatoon; one sister and two brothers: Mary Hankewich and John (Dena) Korzyk, all of Saskatoon; and Paul Korzyk of Fosston; brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Peter Brataschuk of Spalding; Mike (Marilyn) Brataschuk and John Brataschuk, all of Melfort and Harry Chaplin of Oliver, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
