SHELLBROOK — RCMP respond to reports of gunfire on Ahtahkakoop Cree NationRCMP responded to reports of gunfire on the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation Saturday night, prompting a strong police presence in the area and warnings for residents to remain in their homes.

The first call reporting a possible shooting came in at approximately 8:47 p.m., with several additional calls following, all indicating shots fired in the community.

In a Crime Watch Advisory issued at 9:45 p.m. on April 12, police said they are actively investigating and urged residents to avoid areas where officers are working. Authorities have not yet confirmed if there are any injuries or arrests.

Police said they would notify the public if any imminent risk to safety is identified.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact RCMP at 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The advisory was distributed via the Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory Network.
