NORTH BATTLEFORD — A successful grant application to the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund means the City of North Battleford will see significant savings for pedestrian crosswalk flashing lights at 100th Street and 17th Avenue.
According to a Tuesday morning press release, the city has been approved for the maximum funding amount of $100,000.
The project will involve overhead hanging lights on 100th St. and differs from the other flashing crosswalk upgrades recently unveiled in North Battleford.
With this successful funding application, the city’s contribution is expected to be $98,499.
“With four lanes of traffic on 100th Street and lots of students crossing at the location on 17th Ave., the city identified this as a priority area where we improve safety,” commented Randy Patrick, the City of North Battleford's city manager
“Council approved this project for the 2024 budget with the hope the province would assist with some financial support, and we were extremely pleased to learn the news of this approval this week. We extend our gratitude to the provincial government for this funding.”
The city says the project will be posted for tender on the City’s website and on SaskTenders.ca.
