WHITEHORSE — The Yukon government says firefighters have responded to four human-caused blazes in the territory in the last two days, after a fire ban was implemented.
It says three of those fires were reported in Dawson City, Carcross and at Grey Mountain in Whitehorse Thursday night.
The territory says another fire started Wednesday at Miles Canyon in Whitehorse.
It is reminding people that there is a level 2 fire ban in place as fire danger ratings remain high in many parts of the territory.
The current ban means cooking and warming fires are only allowed in the provided fire pits and stoves at road-accessible territorial and commercial campgrounds, and that all other fire use is suspended.
The government is asking that people be aware and avoid activities that could spark fires, including operating any motorized vehicles in tall grass during hot and dry weather.
