The Yorkton Xerox Terriers of the SBAAHL won a pair of big games this past weekend to leapfrog both the Estevan TS&M Bruins and Weyburn Crescent Point Wings to take over first place in the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Division.
The Xerox Terriers got a pair of goals from three different players on Saturday in Weyburn as Kishaun Gervais, Ethan Evanovich and Zach McIntyre all scored twice, while singles were added by Colby Vranai, Aiden Bulych and Josh Herman.
Spencer Welke picked up the win for the Xerox Terriers, his second one of the season, while Weyburn’s Kobe Kmita took the loss.
The following day the Xerox Terriers were out for blood, looking to gain some revenge on the Estevan Bruins as the Bruins have been the only team to defeat Yorkton so far this season.
McIntyre and Bulych gave Yorkton a two goal lead after 20 minutes of play, however Mason Strutt cut the Terrier lead in half midway through the second period.
Vranai’s second goal of the weekend gave Yorkton back their two goal cushion late in the second period before bantam rookie Jackson Berezowski’s second goal of the season made it 4-1 in the third period.
A Cody Davis power play goal with 34 seconds left gave the home side two goals, however it proved to be too little, too late, as the Xerox Terriers skated to a 4-2 win.
The next action for the Yorkton Xerox Terriers will be Friday when they host Weyburn. They’ll then welcome the Swift Current Kabos Raiders to town on Saturday. Both games are set for 7:30p.m. start times and both are at the Kinsmen Arena.
