OTTAWA — The Ottawa Senators have retained some goaltending depth behind new netminder Linus Ullmark by signing Mads Sogaard to a two-year contract.

The first year of the deal announced Monday is a two-way contract, and the second year is one-way. It carries an annual value of US$775,000 in the NHL and $225,000 in the American Hockey League.

Sogaard, from Aalborg, Denmark, had a 1-3-0 record with a 4.05 goals-against average and .859 save percentage in six appearances, including five starts, with Ottawa last season.

Ottawa's 37th-overall pick at the 2019 NHL draft had an 18-9-3 record with a 2.45 GAA and .916 save percentage in 32 games with the AHL's Belleville Senators.

The Senators overhauled their goaltending last month by acquiring Ullmark, the NHL's Vezina Trophy winner in 2023, in a trade with Boston.

Also Monday, the Senators dealt forward Roby Jarventie and a fourth-round selection in the 2025 draft to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for forwards Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson.

Jarventie, selected 33rd overall by Ottawa at the 2020 NHL draft, had an assist in seven games with the Senators last season.

He had 38 goals, 48 assists and 106 penalty minutes over 136 games with Belleville.

Bourgault, from L’Islet, Que., had eight goals and 12 assists over 55 games with the American Hockey League's Bakersfield Condors last season.

Chiasson, from Abbotsford, B.C., had nine goals and 11 assists in 69 games with the ECHL's Fort Wayne Komets. He also had one scoreless appearance with Bakersfield.
