The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost their final home opener game at old Mosaic Stadium, 30-17 to the Toronto Argonauts. The Riders defence started off shaky but made adjustments in the second half and played much better. Riders quarterback Darian Durant attempted 48 passes while completing 31 for 310 yards and one touchdown. He also caught his own pass that was knocked down and record three yards receiving. The Riders record is 0-1 and their next game is against the Edmonton Eskimos.
Other scores from Week 2 were: the Ottawa RedBlacks beat the Montreal Alouettes 28-13, the B.C. Lions hammered the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 28-3 and the Calgary Stampeders beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 36-22.
In the Arena Football League, the Philadelphia Soul hammered the Portland Steel 59-38 in a one-sided game. The Soul’s record is 10-3 and their next game is in Week15 against the Cleveland Gladiators.
Other scores from Week 13 were: the Orlando Predators hammered the Tampa Bay Storm 56-33, the Arizona Rattlers beat LA Kiss 64-49, and the Cleveland Gladiators edged the Jacksonville Sharks 48-47.
In Major League Soccer, Toronto FC tied the Seattle Sounders 1-1 in a tight game. Toronto’s record is 5-6-5 and they are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Their next game is against the Chicago Fire.
The Toronto Blue Jays split a four-game series with the Cleveland Indians in Major League Baseball action over the weekend. Toronto is in third place in the American League East.
In the Western Major Baseball League, the Regina Red Sox split their games with the Okotoks Dawgs over the weekend. The Red Sox are in second place in the Eastern Division.
