The Yorkton RawTec Maulers of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League played two games away from home last weekend, and they came back to Yorkton with two wins.

On Saturday, Dec. 3 they played in Saskatoon against the Saskatoon Contacts.

The first two periods of play were close between the Contacts and the Maulers. The Maulers scored the first two goals in the first period, which came from Beau Stevenson and Aiden Bulych. The Contacts were able to get one in in the last minute of play in the first, resulting in a score of 2-1 at the first intermission.

In the second, the Contacts tied the game up at two. That would be the only goal of that period.

But in the third period, the Maulers came out strong and added three more goals to the scoreboard. The Contacts weren’t able to get another one in, so the final score was 5-2. Yorkton’s final three goals were scored by Ryder Pierson, Keenan Sperling and Kaedan Korczak.

On Sunday, the RawTec Maulers headed to Beardy’s Reserve to face the Beardy’s Blackhawks.

In the first period, the Blackhawks put the first goal on the board, which would be the only goal scored in the first.

But in the second, the Maulers returned to the ice and sealed the win after scoring two more goals. The first Maulers goal was scored by Keenan Sperling. The second goal came from Derrick Budz on a powerplay.

The third period saw no goals, resulting in a  final score of 2-1 for the RawTec Maulers.

These two wins boosted the Maulers’ place in the standings, and they’re now sitting in sixth place out of twelve teams. Their current record is 11-10-0-1.

The Maulers’ next game is on Wednesday, Dec. 7 in Regina. They will then return home for two games at the Farrell Agencies Arena on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 10 and 11, against the Battlefords Stars. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
