The Bredenbury Tundra Junior Hockey Club will be joining the Qu’appelle Valley Junior Hockey League in the fall for the 2017/2018 season. Â
The Tundra will be holding a spring ID camp for players ages 14 to 20 in Bredenbury, on March 25 and 26, which they are expecting around 50 skaters and eight goalies at camp. Â
Walk up Registration is $60.
This year’s camp will have evaluators from PJHL and THL clubs helping out, so it’s a great chance for players to get in front of GM’s and coaches from multiple teams at once for one camp fee.
The Qu’appelle Valley Junior Hockey League was established in 2014 as a 6 team developmental league. Created to accommodate junior hockey players who may be attending university, trade school, high school or who have entered the workforce that wish to continue to play competitive full contact junior hockey after graduating from minor hockey.
The Qu’appelle Valley Junior Hockey League has a 20 game regular season schedule and includes five other junior clubs located in east central Saskatchewan: Balcarres Broncs, Lumsden Lumber Jax, Regina River Rats, White Butte Eagles and Wolseley Mustangs. The league is open to all players 15 to 21 years of age. The QVJHL regular season begins in October.
There are many spots available for the Bredenbury Tundra team for next season.
It will be the club’s inaugural season, so they are building the club with new prospects to develop into high calibre junior hockey players by providing them with the skills to make the leap up the ladder in their junior hockey careers and up to higher levels of hockey.
The goal of the club is to develop a championship team with sportsmanship, teamwork, commitment and strong work ethic, emphasizing on education while working to develop new skills on and off the ice. The team’s head coach is Marcel Legault. From Toronto, his highest levels of play were at the high school A and college level.
He has coached at all ages and levels, starting at age 16. He started coaching at higher levels around seven years ago and throughout those years, he coached the house league, A, and AA levels.
Legault’s philosophy is pretty simple: bring a group together through a structured system with the goal to be successful. To instill a good work ethic through action and effort, while building a team mentality. His goal is to build a team that works hard both on and off the ice. To help mold these young men, the players, into achievers with the mindset that success comes with effort and teamwork. Hard work beats talent.
The Tundra’s general manager and assistant coach is Steven Schneider.
He is an Saskatchewan Hockey Association official in his spare time, reffing bantam, midget and senior hockey throughout east central Saskatchewan. Schneider played 13 years of minor hockey in Neudorf, Melville and Grenfell where he played for both the midget and senior clubs, and was selected to be a member of team Parkland Valley Midget Sask first team in 2008. While attending university, Steven played junior hockey in the Prairie Junior Hockey League in Saskatchewan for three different clubs: Fort Qu’appelle, Regina Capitals and Assiniboia СÀ¶ÊÓƵern Rebels.
