The Estevan Bruins recent run of success came to an end Saturday night in a 5-1 loss to the Melville Millionaires.
The Bruins had won three of their last four games entering the contest, including an intense 6-4 win over the Weyburn Red Wings on Friday night, but fell behind early to Melville and never recovered.
Mason Strutt scored the Bruins lone goal in the loss. It came midway through the third period, and it was the first goal in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for the Estevan hockey product.
Nic Porterfield scored three times for Melville, including the game winner midway through the first period. Payton Jerome had the other two goals.
Randy Cooke made 30 saves for the Bruins on the night. Berk Berkeliev had 30 saves for Melville in his second game back after suffering a concussion on a controversial hit in the second game of the season.
