Kinsmen Terriers fundraise for Arnold

On Saturday, Oct.
Hunter Arnold Fundraiser
The Kinsmen Terriers helped to fundraise approximately $13,000 for the family of their former player Hunter Arnold, who is recovering in hospital after a serious car accident last month.

On Saturday, Oct. 22 the Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers of the SSMHL 鈥楢A鈥 Midget hockey league dedicated their home game against the Estevan Bruins as a fundraiser for Hunter Arnold, an 18 year-old from Yorkton who was seriously injured in a car accident last month. The team was able to raise approximately $13,000 for the Arnold family.

Arnold was in a car with his friend Jordan Stoll, heading to Regina, when their vehicle hit another. Stoll was killed in the crash and Arnold has been in hospital ever since.

Arnold was a member of the AA Midget Terriers several years ago. His brother, Reid Arnold, is now the team captain.聽 The team wanted to help the Arnold family however they could.

To raise money, there was a small fee for spectators at the door of the Farrell Agencies Arena, as well as a silent auction going on during the game which contained items donated from businesses around the community.

Kinsmen Terriers head coach Chris Newans said 鈥淗e was seriously injured and the family has been running back and forth between here and Saskatoon for surgeries.鈥
鈥淚t can wear on a family and Hunter is in for the long haul. We thought it鈥檇 be a nice gesture to do what we could to help the family out.鈥

The support from the community inspired the Kinsmen Terriers on the ice and they took the win with a score of 8-3, bumping their record up to 3-0.

Newans said he was happy with the way his guys played against Estevan, but admitted the next time they meet, it may not turn out the same.

鈥淭he team we played tonight, Estevan, is a pretty good hockey club. They played their second game in two days and they have a couple of injuries, so they鈥檙e a little bit banged up,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e well coached and I鈥檓 sure the next time we see them, things will be a lot different.
