The Yorkton RawTec Maulers are down to their last four games of the regular season. They have had only one game in the last week, but will play four in the next six days.
Their one game last week took place in Notre Dame, when they faced the Notre Dame Hounds, who currently sit in third place in the league.
The final score was 5-3 for Notre Dame.
The first period of play held a lot of action for both teams. Yorkton started the scoring about halfway through, when Kaleb Bulych connected with the back of the net off assists from Aiden Bulych and Trey Bear. Shortly after, the Maulers scored again. It was a short-handed goal scored by Beau Stevenson with the assist from Kaleb Bulych.
But the Hounds would then take advantage of a power play and score with 3:45 left on the clock. Then, with only 50 seconds left, they scored again. The first period ended with a 2-2 tie.
In the second, the Hounds gained two more goals while Yorkton only gained one. The one goal of the period for Yorkton was scored by Jackson Berezowski with the assist from Zach McIntyre. That would be the final goal for Yorkton. The Hounds scored one more in the third period, resulting in a 5-3 final score.
The next week is both busy and crucial for the Maulers. They’re in a close battle with both the Tisdale Trojans and the Saskatoon Blazers for that sixth spot.
The Maulers’ next home game will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 8:00 p.m. at the Farrell Agencies Arena, when they will face the Notre Dame Argos.
This coming weekend, the Maulers will play two road games in Prince Albert and Saskatoon. Then, they’ll return to the FAA on Tuesday, Feb. 21 for their final regular season game, when they look for redemption against the Notre Dame Hounds. The puck will drop for that game at 8:00 p.m.
