The Estevan Bruins once again gave the defending SJHL champions, the Battlefords North Stars, all they could handle, but came up short in a 2-0 loss Friday night at Affinity Place.
It was the Bruins fifth straight loss.
The game was scoreless after the first period, but Matthias Urbanski scored midway through the second period to give the North Stars a 1-0 lead.
It remained a one-goal game until the final moments, when Brett Gammer scored into an empty net to clinch the victory.
Goaltender Keenan Rancier stopped 25 shots for the Bruins.
Adam Dmyterko made 34 saves for the North Stars to pick up the shutout. Ìý
A scary moment occurred late in the third, when Urbanski was inadvertently took a skate to the face from Bruin defenceman Devan Harrison. Urbanski needed 12 stitches, but will apparently be OK.Ìý
