REGINA — A man has been arrested and faces charges related to a fire at a Regina church earlier this month that police allege was set deliberately.
A social media post from the pastor of Regina’s Blessed Sacrament Parish shows footage of the Feb. 9 fire in which a masked person is seen pouring the contents of a jerry can near the church's office entrance.
After several failed attempts, the suspect can be seen in the video eventually lighting the contents of the can before fleeing.
Police say fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, although the church said mass had to be cancelled the following weekend due to the fire and its associated cleanup.
Thirty-one-year-old Jordan Willett is charged with arson with disregard for human life and disguise with intent, as well as two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
He'll appear in Regina provincial court on the charges on Tuesday.
