SASKATOON — Wanuskewin Heritage Park is looking for a new chief executive officer.

Darlene Brander’s contract as CEO for Wanuskewin Heritage Park has ended as of May 10. Wanuskewin has thanked Brander for the successful completion of her five-year contract.

An executive search will begin in the next few weeks, says a release issued by Wanuskewin Heritage Park.

“Darlene has done an exemplary job of navigating the park through some challenging times including a global pandemic, and completing a major expansion to the park in 2020,” stated the release. “Darlene’s contributions have brought the park to significant national acclaim, including a National Tourism Award as the Top Indigenous Tourism Destination in Canada in 2023.”

In the release, the Wanuskewin Board of Directors wished Brander continued success in all of her future endeavours.

“Wishing the park Elders, board and staff all the best as they continue to journey towards UNESCO designation. Wanuskewin would not be where it is now without your passion, vision and direction. Thank you! I also want to recognize the staff who were the heart, muscle and visionaries of Wanuskewin's programs, projects, services and accomplishments that raised the profile of the park, said Brander. “As I look forward, it is an exciting time for the park, as Wanuskewin is poised for a bright future.”
