Toronto man arrested for Saskatoon jewelry store theft

A 27-year-old man is charged with wearing a disguise to commit an offence, mischief and breach of conditions.

SASKATOON — A Toronto man is in custody following a theft at a jewellery store over the noon hour Monday.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., Jan. 15, Saskatoon Police Service Communications received a call regarding an armed robbery. The caller told police that a man wearing a mask and wielding a crowbar entered a jewellery store in the 100 block of 21st Street East. He reportedly smashed a display case, stole merchandise and fled the store.

Two patrol officers walking nearby observed the suspect fleeing prior to the incident having been reported to SPS, and placed him under arrest. He was transported to detention and the stolen items, located on his person, were seized.

Along with a robbery offence, the 27-year-old man is charged with wearing a disguise to commit an offence, mischief and breach of conditions.
