PRINCE ALBERT - The inside workers strike in Prince Albert appears to be over.
In a news release Tuesday from the Canadian Union of Public Employees, CUPE 882 announced that the union and the city of Prince Albert have reached a tentative agreement. The agreement will go to the membership for a vote on whether to accept the offer on Friday, Sept. 29.
CUPE says it reached the agreement after two days of face-to-face negotiations. According to the union, the tentative agreement includes coverage for vision care for all employees as well as EFAP coverage expanded to include non-permanent employees. The union also says that the wage offer from the employer remains the same, with a memorandum of understanding on market supplements to adjust wages for hard to recruit classifications. The pay bands will also be adjusted to bring the lowest paid workers above minimum wage.
The job action had been going on for the last couple of months, with a full withdrawal of services taking place Sept. 11.
