Greetings from Terminal C at LGA. I'm heading to Orlando this morning to do a leadership level-set session about AI. I haven't been to either park since before the pandemic, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what's new.
In the news: The game of LLMusical chairs continues. Emad Mostaque, CEO of Stability AI (makers of the text-to-image app Stable Diffusion), has stepped down. He tweeted: "The concentration of power in AI is bad for us all. I decided to step down to fix this at Stability & elsewhere."
This news caps off a couple of weeks of notable changes in big AI. Inflection AI was effectively "acquihired" by Microsoft. Apple acquired DarwinAI and is talking to Google about Gemini and to Anthropic about Claude. OpenAI announced it will launch Sora and some version of the next GPT before the end of the year. I'm not sure what will happen when the music stops this week.
One thing I am sure of is that whichever LLM you choose, at some point you're going to connect it to your proprietary data. Once that's done, you're going to want a way to ask it questions it can reliably answer. My Sunday essay, , is about how to get the most out of your AI tech stack.
