SASKATOON - Judy Hrycuik’s excitement grew and grew as she checked the Extra numbers on her Western Max ticket and discovered she had won $100,000 on the Sept. 8 Extra draw.
“I checked my numbers just before I went to bed,” she said while claiming her prize. “With every number I thought, ‘Oh! I won $2!’ then ‘Oh! I won $10!’ all the way up to ‘Oh my God! I won $100,000!’”
The happy Saskatoon winner said after checking her ticket, she and her husband had a tough time falling to sleep.
“Well, we were obviously pretty excited!” she laughed. “We were joking that we weren’t going to be able to sleep for a while after that; and we didn’t – it took a few hours to settle down!”
Hrycuik said she has a couple ideas for her windfall, starting with saving for the future.
“We would like to put away money for our grandkids to help with their education,” she explained. “And of course, we want to share with the family as a whole.”
“We have a trip to Hawaii coming up, so this will definitely add something to our vacation,” she continued. “We would also like to give back and make a couple donations to charities.”
Hrycuik purchased her winning Western Max and Extra ticket from the 7-Eleven Food Store located at 2132 McClocklin Rd. in Saskatoon. She won her prize by matching the last six digits of the Extra number drawn on Sept. 8 – 1018245.
