SASKATOON — The snow is pretty much gone, spring is in the air, and Rider Training Camp is opening next month.
It all starts with the rookies reporting on May 6 to the Riders camp at Griffiths Stadium at the University of Saskatchewan, in Saskatoon.
First-time Roughriders will then be put through their paces May 8 to 10, with the main camp opening on Sunday, May 12.
The annual “Green and White” game will take place Saturday, May 18, at Saskatoon Minor Football Field with gates opening at noon. The club plans to have face painting and other fun activities for the whole family, along with the 620CKRM Rider Pep Band, the 620CKRM Rider Cheer Team, and of course Gainer the Gopher.
The Riders will play their first pre-season game on Victoria Day Monday, May 20 at Mosaic when they host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The team will hit the road for their second pre-season game just a few days later in Edmonton May 25.
After that, the team will wrap up training camp in Regina, preparing for the season opener Saturday June 8 against the Elks in Edmonton. The Riders first home game is Sunday, June 23 when the Hamilton Tiger Cats come to town.
