Four accused in drug bust make another court appearance

ESTEVAN - The four people charged in the Aug. 9 Estevan drug bust – Cody Blaine Klyne, Devon William Martell, Brennan Stephen McKeen and Jessica Louise Rutter-McKeen – had appearances Sept. 30. Their matters have all been adjourned to Oct. 21 as well.

Background: The Estevan Police Service (EPS), Joint Tactical Support Team (JTST), RCMP International Border Enforcement Team (IBET) and the Weyburn Police Service (WPS) executed search warrants at five locations in Estevan in August. The four accused individuals were charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine; possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine; trafficking a schedule I substance – cocaine; trafficking a schedule I substance – methamphetamine; and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Martell is facing an additional count of possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, and Klyne is facing two charges of violating the conditions of his release order, stemming from a prior offence.

None of the charges have been proven in court.

Meanwhile, Tyler Wyatt made a video appearance on Sept. 30, and his case was set aside to Oct. 28 to give his attorney an opportunity to review disclosure. He remains in custody.

Background: Wyatt is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime and resisting a police officer, related to an incident in Bienfait on Sept. 11, and one count each of escaping lawful custody, resisting a police officer and breaking and entering with intent, stemming from an escape from police custody on Sept. 13.

He also has other charges before the court, including driving while prohibited.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
