REGINA - Regina International Airport is getting a new ultra-low cost airline option starting in June.

It was announced Wednesday that Lynx Air has added Regina to its route network starting June 20, with flights to and from Vancouver and Toronto.

The plan is for six weekly flights for each route — three going and three coming back from each destination, with the flights to and from the two destinations operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

To mark the new route a seat sale has been launched with fares starting from $79 one way, including taxes and fees. The Lynx seat sale will have up to 35 per cent off on base fares across the route network and runs to 11:59 p.m. Jan. 18 with the promo code: REGINA. Details can be found at FlyLynx.com.

“We are excited to be adding Regina to the Lynx Air network in the lead up to summer. The province of Saskatchewan has seen significant reductions in capacity lately and prices are too high, and we aim to change that,” said Vijay Bathija, CCO of Lynx, in a statement. “We are pleased to offer an ultra-affordable option to connect Regina and Saskatchewan to BC and Ontario. Whether you are travelling to explore this gateway to the Prairies or to visit your loved ones in the region, Lynx will ensure a great flying experience at an ultra-affordable price."

Lynx Air is the first new major airline added to Regina airport since Swoop in 2022. The airport had been in discussions over the past couple of years with a number of airlines, including Lynx Air, in an effort to add flights from an ultra-low-cost carrier to the airport.

"We've been hearing from communities across all of southern Saskatchewan that they want an ultra-low-cost carrier here at YQR," said Justin Reves, Director of Revenue Development, Public Relations, and Customer Experience for the Regina Airport Authority, in a statement. "We're excited it's the amazing team at Lynx is answering the call. We know they are going to deliver reliable, ultra-affordable service between YQR and two of our busiest destinations of Toronto and Vancouver."
