REGINA - The new Legislative Assembly will be back for its first session on Monday, Nov. 25.
Premier Scott Moe made the announcement Thursday. The session will begin that day with the election of a new Speaker, followed in the afternoon by the delivery of the Speech from the Throne by Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty.
According to the province’s news release the fall sitting is expected to last two weeks, to allowdebate and passage of the Throne Speech and the introduction of a number of pieces of legislation. The indication is this will include bills to fulfill the government's campaign commitments made during the election.
According to a statement from Premier Moe, Saskatchewan people can expect to see very specific goals for much-needed improvements in the areas of health care and education, as well as implementing affordability measures and their economic growth initiatives.
"Saskatchewan people elected a government with a mandate for a strong economy and a bright future, but we also know that many people voted for change and we will deliver both," Moe said in a statement. "The new Legislature provides an opportunity for a new beginning, and we won't waste any time getting to work on the priorities of residents."
Moe adds in a statement that they are "incredibly grateful for the opportunity to govern for all residents regardless of who they voted for.”
