The Unity Lions Club had a busy weekend, hosting a district meeting, Lions zone curl-offs and a minor hockey tournament.
There was plenty of curling in Wilkie too, with CP employees holding their Saskatoon division playoffs in Wilkie.
A bid by North Battleford to host the 1974 national baseball championships was successful, with support from Unity and Lloydminster, who would also host some of the games.
RM of Reford council approved an expenditure to purchase a “typing” desk for the office.
Playing at the Roxy Theatre in Wilkie was Cancel My Reservation, starring Bob Hope and Eva Saint Marie. Coming up the next week was Sometimes a Great Notion, starring Paul Newman and Henry Fonda.

A $2 million modernization project for the Sifto salt plant was said to be a good indication of a bright future for the plant. The last of the two original evaporators – vintage 1945 – were to be replaced with one, more energy-efficient evaporator.
Upon Nick and Lil Seneshen СÀ¶ÊÓƵ recognized for 50 years of business with Unity Photo, Nick shared that, when he first registered his business at the town office, an employee told him his business wouldn’t last a year.
Shop Easy Foods in Wilkie and Unity was advertising specials: Neilson butter, $1.99; bananas, 58¢ a pound; and a dozen large eggs, 99¢.
