Ceremonies were held for the 1973 Luseland graduating class with Dieter Magnus as valedictorian.
On behalf of Little Assembly Dance Association, Mrs. Barbara Kuhlman presented Lloyd Sankey, Unity recreation director, with a cheque for $500 to go towards air conditioning for the upper hall in the Unity Community Centre.
The Town of Macklin passed a dog bylaw requiring all dogs to be licensed and to not be allowed to run at large.
Picnic sites were added as part of ongoing development at Wilkie Regional Park. The board responsible was also canvassing residents as to whether there was interest in building a roller skating area.

A farm in Baldwinton was one of 13 under quarantine following the discovery of a cow afflicted with bovine spongiform encephalopathy, also known as mad cow disease, in Alberta. The cow had been traced back to Anchor R Ranch, owned by Mel and Trevor. The McCreas were anticipating the worst as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency had to move quickly to get the borders open to Canadian beef again.
The Humane Society of Canada strongly criticized the killing of Richardson’s ground squirrels in a competition organized by the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation. Comments were made about the “pain and suffering inflicted on these innocent animals.”
Unity Composite High School badminton duo Sheldon Riess and Dustin Sander had an undefeated season until provincials when they lost in the round robin to the eventual gold and silver medal winners.
