Youth faces attempted murder charge

Police say 14-year-old victim sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

REGINA – A 16-year-old male has been charged with attempted murder after an incident on the 2000 block of Osler Street on Feb. 16. Just after 1:30 a.m., police were called for a report of somebody welding a knife in a residence.

“Information received was that a male stabbed another male and fled in a vehicle,” said RPS in a media release. “Police arrived and observed the victim of the weapons offence, a 14 year-old male.”

EMS arrived on-scene, and transported him to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“It was learned that a fight had broken out at a gathering and a male had brought out a knife and assaulted another young male,” RPS explained.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was later arrested by police and will make a first appearance on the attempted murder charge this afternoon.
