NORTH BATTLEFORD – A 22-year-old woman arrested by the Battlefords RCMP Gang Task Force last year remained in custody after her May 1 appearance.
Kalyn Leona Thomas is now due back in North Battleford Provincial Court on June 11.
Thomas, along with Blaire Ryan Chief of Scott, and Harley Shawn Dillon of Onion Lake Cree Nation were charged with about 10 firearms-related offences.
They were arrested while the Gang Unit was conducting proactive patrols on Sept. 28, 2023, in North Battleford. Officers had located a stolen vehicle in the 1800 block of St. Laurent Drive. It had been previously stolen from Warman.
The Gang Unit and the Battlefords RCMP Provincial General Investigation Section did a high-risk vehicle stop and arrested four people. One person was released without charges.
When police searched the vehicle, they found a loaded firearm inside.
Thomas also faces charges in separate incidents including break and enter, assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, mischief, and three counts of obstruction of a peace officer.
Dillon’s trial is set for June 13 in North Battleford Provincial Court.
Chief was sentenced in March to 36 months in jail on charges of possession of a firearm in a vehicle, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, obstruction of a police officer, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
He was given 252 days pre-trial credit. He was also ordered to provide his DNA to the National DNA Data Bank, and prohibited from owning firearms for life.
