SASKATOON – A teen was arrested after a loss prevention officer (LPO) was stabbed at Midtown Mall downtown Saskatoon Tuesday evening.
At approximately 7:10 p.m., on Dec. 19, Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) patrol officers responded and when they arrived, they found the LPO suffering from minor injuries caused by a knife.
Officers learned that a group of people entered a store and the LPO recognized one of them who had been banned from the centre. When escorting them out of the area, a brief altercation occurred before the victim was assaulted with a pocket knife. The suspect then fled on foot but was quickly located in the centre by security guards who apprehended him. SPS members arrested the suspect and took him to detention.
The 15-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, breach of an undertaking and breach of probation. He was also found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest.
