Suspicious Saskatoon fire causes $150K damage: Police investigate

Firefighters brought the fire under control and at 3:59 a.m. the fire scene was turned over to the Fire Investigator. At 4:56 a.m. the scene was turned over to Police Arson Investigator. 

SASKATOON – A police arson investigator was asked to attend a suspicious fire that caused $150,000 in damage to a home Tuesday morning.

Saskatoon police say that at 2:12 a.m. on April 18, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a report of a two-story house on fire. Three fire engines, one rescue unit, one ladder truck and the Battalion Chief were dispatched.  First arriving fire crews found visible flames on the rear of the structure. The detached garage also caught fire as a result of the heat and flames from the house. All incoming fire crews were assigned their tactical duties.

An exterior and interior attack on the fire was conducted by fire crews. Both the house and the garage were searched and found to be vacant. A Fire Investigator and Police Arson Investigator were requested to attend. Firefighters brought the fire under control and at 3:59 a.m. the fire scene was turned over to the Fire Investigator. At 4:56 a.m. the scene was turned over to Police Arson Investigator. 

Cause of the fire is suspicious.
