SASKATOON – Eagle River Durocher, 23, made his first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court Monday after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in a violent attack over the weekend.
Durocher was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 7 for a bail hearing.
There is a publication ban on the victim’s name. Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) say the victim and Durocher weren’t known to each other.
Officers had responded at about 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 3, after getting a report from a woman that she had been the victim of a sexual assault in progress in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue. When police arrived, they saw a man hiding in nearby bushes and confirmed he was the suspect.
He fled when officers approached him but they arrested him a short distance away.
Durocher was charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, choking, and obstruction.
